Learning 21st Century Lifeskills through Project Work TKGS introduced a community service learning project work for Secondary 2 students that engages the students in their search to identify and understand community problems with the teachers acting as their facilitators. We leverage on this project as a key platform for learning 21st century life skills and to develop in the students’ an awareness of their responsibility to their community. 2009 National Secondary School Chinese New Production Competition TKGS organized the National Secondary School Chinese New Production Competition held on 2 Sept 2009. Senior Minister of State Ministry of National Development and Ministry of Education was the Guest of Honor. A total 29 schools participated.

TKGS @ MOE EXCEL FEST 2010 Our teachers from the English, Literature and History departments set up a booth at the MOE Excel Fest held at Suntec City from 5th Mar to 6th Mar, showcasing the LEAD ICT journey in TKGS from 2006 to 2009.
Scienzation Day is back again on 13th March 2010! This time, bigger and better, with new activities and even an out-of-the world experience in the Planetarium.
Scienzation Day is a science outreach initiative to enthuse our Secondary One students in Science and research. On Scienzation Day, students can expect to be engaged in hands-on and fun Science activities. More updates on Scienzation Day soon!

39th East Zone / National School Sports Council Colours Awards 2009
Congratulations to 10 of our TKGians who received their East Zone / National School Sports Colours Awards (Individual) on 18th Sep 09 at Pasir Ris Crest Secondary School . Mr C Kunalan, Ex-Olympian, Assistant Professor, National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University was the Guest-of-Honour for the prize presentation ceremony. TKGS also received 4 School Sports Colours Awards (Team) for their sporting achievements in the school sports competitions this year.

Bowling DARSHINI KRISHNA (Sec 4/8) DOES SINGAPORE PROUD IN AYG 2009!
Our TKGS bowler, Darshini Krishna (Sec 4/8) gave a stellar bowling performance during the 1 st Asian Youth Games (AYG) to win a Gold medal in the Girls Doubles Event, a Silver medal in the Girls' Team Event, and a Bronze medal in the Girls Masters' Event. Well done, Darshini! We are very proud of your AYG achievements.
National Chinese Orchestra Camp
During the second week of the June Holidays, Ma Kei Kiu, a MEP student from 1E8, participated in the National Chinese Orchestra Camp for Secondary school students (organised by MOE (CCA Branch)).
Kei Kiu reflects on her experience:
"I have learnt a lot through this music camp and made many friends. This camp provided an opportunity for me to interact and participate in group activities, music rehearsals and music workshops conducted by professional musicians from the Singapore Chinese Orchestra. I improved a lot in my erhu playing skills, and increased my knowledge of Chinese music from my instructors and friends. This was definitely the highlight of my June Holidays!"

East Zone Netball Tournament 2009
Our Netball B Division girls played against Chung Cheng High Main on Monday and we won with a score of 33-1. Well done girls! Keep up the good work!
Our Netball C DIvision girls played against Damai Seconday on Tuesday and we beat them with a score of 33. Well done girls and keep up the good work!
Our Netball C Div girls played against Springfield Secondary School on 21st of January and won with a score of 42:5. Well done girls!
Our B Division netball team did us proud once more as the first runner up in the finals of the East Zone Netball Tournament. Well done girls and keep up the good spirit!

Our C Division Softball Team played against Orchird Park Sec Sch on 24th Mar 2009 and they won with a score of 25 to 6. Well done girls!
East Zone Badminton Tournament
Our C Div team beat East Spring Sec School 4-1.
Our B Div team beat Bedok South Secondary with a score of 5-0. Well done girls!
Our C Div School team played against Katong Convent on Monday. We beat them with a score of 5-0. Well done girls!
On 27th Feb 2009, our 'C' Division girls played against Dunman High Secondary. The 'B' Division girls played against Paya Lebar Methodist Girls' School. The girls fought very hard and both teams suceeded in clinching the third placing. Both teams have qualified to play in the National Championship. Well done girls!
Tennis B Div
Our B div tennis girls played against Katong Convent on 2nd Feb 2009 and won with a score of 3 -2. Well done girls!
Uniformed Groups CIP Trip to Siem Reap, Cambodia
The three uniformed groups went on their annual CIP to Siem Reap , Cambodia from the November 23 rd – 27 th 2008 . Apart from returning to Tapang Primary for a visit to the library that they have set up last year, they also visited the Self Help Center where they worked together with some volunteers from the UK and Australia to conduct lessons for the children of the village and also painted the classrooms as well as prepare two gardening plots for the centre.

Australian National Optimist Championship (7 - 12 Jan 09)
Four of our sailors took part in the competition and came back winners in the Girls' Category; with Zandra in 4th, Sue Shen in 2nd and Kimberly clinching the 1st position! Well done girls!
